Energy Calcs Explained
Updated June 1, 2026
An energy calculation (often called a Manual J / energy code compliance report) demonstrates that a home meets Florida's energy code — insulation, window performance, HVAC sizing, and air sealing all factor in. It's a required document in nearly every residential permit package.
Energy calcs are ordered from a third party; turnaround is typically a same-day invoice and next-day delivery. The trick is ordering them at the right point in the process so they're ready when the rest of the permit package is compiled — not a week after.
We order, verify, and file the energy calc as part of permit management, alongside the Notice of Commencement and the rest of the required forms.
“Permit-ready in a week instead of a month. David caught two tabulation errors before submission that would have bounced us. Worth every dollar.”— Custom Home Builder, Anna Maria Island
